This is the squarehappy Kittencam v2, displaying the second litter from our cat, Teeny. It will reload every thirty seconds automatically, so just sit back and relax, and let the overwhelming cuteness come to you.
Some Backstory
Our cat, Tiny Nightmare, gave birth on the first of June, 2006. We actually took note of the date this time so we can answer the first question out of everyone's mouth with a high degree of accuracy, unlike last time when the kittens would sometimes grow younger as time passed. We just didn't have a clue.
I thought the more litters a cat had, the more kittens each litter was likely to produce. I reasoned that the mother cat would "get better at it". Perhaps Teeny got as weary of five cats running around the house as much as I did, so this time we've only got two.
And thank friggin' deity. That's half as much poop as last time. Half as much headache. And it'll be far easier to find homes for them, a task that always weighs heavily on me. We were lucky to have people we knew and trusted take the last litter. This time we just have to find two more.
This setup also provides a direct feed to the action while keeping a safe distance from Teeny, who currently hates me. Ever since her last litter, she'd been one very unhappy cat, hissing all the time and batting her older daughter Suki whenever she came near. She didn't start attacking me until the hormones kicked in and sent her into paternal mode. With kittens still secure inside of her, she bathed Suki, literally and figuratively, in her motherly instincts. She did a complete 180, to the point that Suki was annoyed with her advances.
The turning point came when Suki and the neighbor's dog were attempting to get acquainted, with the obvious inter-species reservations but an overwhelming curiousity. The dog's a sweetheart. When I attempted to expedite the meeting by picking up Suki and moving her a bit closer to the dog, Teeny, witnessing the whole thing, just exploded. She clawed and bit my legs and blocked me from getting inside my own house. I managed to get by but not before feeling her teeth sink into my flesh one more time.
All in all, it was a pretty bloody, one-sided fight. Insult to injury, Teeny proceeded to bite me every time I passed by her the next few days which infuriated me and frightened me (I'm not gonna fight a cat, I pretty much have to take it) to the point that I wanted her out.
Lucky for her she had a litter the third night. She probably didn't like it when I moved her litter, but she really picked an awful place: one of those paperwork inboxes on a businessman's desk. Her and all the kittens (which at the time was two but I was expecting a few more) inside this 8 1/2 x 11 box, which an hour after I moved Teeny tipped over by laying too close to the side, sending her falling on her back and the kittens tumbling on top of her. I was present for that one too, so I'll assume I'm taking the blame again.
Video
Since the webcam doesn't update anymore, I felt this page was kind of pointless so I decided a video was in order. It's not really a video though. It's more of a stop-motion slideshow using webcam images. See it now...
The video is comprised of about 600 webcam shots over a span of 90 minutes, condensed to just over 90 seconds.
