squarehappy is Michael Huch is a cynical web developer and designer with more styles than content.

Style

Ah yes. The whole freakin' reason for this iteration of squarehappy. I'll never have to redesign this site because this site can have unlimited designs. All I have to do is decide which is the "main design". Customize your squarehappy by choosing one of the styles below. You could also have squarehappy load a random style on each page you visit, or perhaps you're a minimalist and would like no style at all.

Control Room

Control Room

I imagined myself in a Cold War-era, Soviet submarine, resting serenely on the ocean floor. That's kind of morbid, but I really pulled out all the stops on this one, in terms of design and the complexity of the CSS involved. Don't know why I had this one on the backburner for so long.

Four Tone Mantis

Four Tone Mantis

Originating as an entry in the The Style Contest, Four Tone Mantis has been repurposed as yet another style for squarehappy. No point in throwing a perfectly useful design. Reduced, reused, and recycled: Four Tone Mantis is all of those things. And I'm a re-re.

Morning Trees

Morning Trees

Art requires commitment to vision, and this design used to be something else entirely. We're not only better off, but the complexity bar has been raised even higher. In spite of that, this design required practically no IE hacking or tweaking. Hope you like purple.

Smoke

Smoke

Featuring my favorite color scheme, Smoke is low on images, high on CSS. Since it makes extensive use of dotted borders, IE users may find it too ugly too bear. This design takes a few advanced concepts and wrings every last bit of usefulness out of them.

The Times

The Times

I've always enjoyed doing the cheeseball themed styles and this one is no exception. Yep, it's supposed to look like a newspaper. Exactly like a newspaper. I've always considered fixed width layouts the sissy way out, and this is also the first one I've done since I can remember.

Wasteland

Wasteland

Wasteland is my first fixed width layout in quite some time. So I took it to an extreme, representing our urge to express ourselves amidst the crushing urban claustrophobia. Don't read into it that much; I just wanted something a bit stylish and thematic.
